Mayor's charities 2015/2016

The mayor's charities are:

Cotswold Riding for the Disabled Association (Cotswold RDA)

Cotswold Riding for the Disabled is a member of the RDA national charity, providing riding lessons for disabled children and adults.

Our current facilities can provide riding lessons for over 200 disabled children
and adults supported by 14 ponies and 120 volunteers each week, which equates to some 7,000 lessons per year.

All our riders are physically disabled or have learning difficulties/special needs, so having a facility such as ours available to them makes a huge impact on their confidence as well as developing/ supporting therapy and achievement.

Maggie’s Centre Cheltenham

Maggie’s Cheltenham provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends, offering a programme of support that has been shown to strengthen physical and emotional wellbeing.

Built near Cheltenham General Hospital, the centre is a warm and welcoming place with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need to find their way through cancer.

Maggie’s Cheltenham is a place to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; a place where qualified experts provide emotional support; a place to meet other people or simply to sit quietly with a cup of tea.
