Submitting a landscape and visual impact assessment

When is one required?

Major applications within the designated Cotswolds National Landscape (formerly known as the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – AONB) or within its setting.

What must it include?

The assessment must review the impact of the proposed development in both landscape and visual terms, following the methodology set out in the ‘Guidelines for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment’, 3rd Edition 2013 (GLVIA3) LI/IEMA. The submitted LVIA must provide us with the information required to test major proposals against both Policy SD6 (Landscape) and SD7 (Cotswolds AONB) of the Joint Core Strategy as well as against the Cotswolds National Landscape Management Plan.
