Submitting a self build or custom build proforma
When is one required?
All residential planning applications which are described as self or custom build or where a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) exemption is claimed on such grounds.
What must it include?
The council needs to be satisfied that the claim that a development is ‘self build’ is legitimate. This is because the consequence of accepting a development’s ‘self build’ nature is significant in that it will be exempt from both CIL and BNG.
The council’s self build proforma requests key information and must be completed (in full) and returned before a relevant application can be validated.
