What is data quality?

Everything relies on an exchange of data, internally and externally.  For resulting action to be useful and correct, data must be accurate, timely and reliable.

Cheltenham Borough Council's vision for data quality is to get things right first time.  This will enable us to have the right information, at the right time, at the right cost.  Our data quality policy outlines our commitment, the characteristics of data quality and our responsibilities to data quality.

Data quality between partners

Much of our strategic and operational work, such as the local area agreement (LAA), relies on working with partners including Gloucestershire County Council and the other local district authorities.  We must ensure that all data exchange between us meets agreed standards.  The Gloucestershire LAA Data Quality Protocol is in place for this reason.
