Few towns in Britain compare with Cheltenham for its trees. The town enjoys mature forest trees throughout its rich parkland and tree-lined streets, as well as a wide array of exotic ornamenal trees. This is a legacy left over from the town's Regency days when it became a Spa town, and which Cheltenham Borough Council are committed to maintaining.

At a guess, Cheltenham has in the region of around 60,000 trees, although the actual number is likely to exceed this figure. This includes both council and privately owned trees.
