The council welcomes the recent announcement and the funding will help its efforts to support communites and businesses.

Councillor Rowena Hay, cabinet member for finance said:

‘’We welcome the recent Government announcement for much needed funding at this time of national emergency. It will help support our efforts to off-set the additional spending that the authority has needed to make to support our communities and businesses during this national emergency. It will also help towards our significant loss of income during this time.

‘’We look forward to further promised support from Government, as we look to lead recovery efforts for our communities and economy.

‘’Furthermore we welcome the announcement that the Review of Relative Needs and Resource and 75% business rates retention will no longer be implemented in 2021-22. This will allow Cheltenham Borough Council to focus on meeting the immediate public health challenge posed by the pandemic.’’
