To recognise the extraordinary effort in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the mayor of Cheltenham has decided to celebrate by introducing new community awards for exceptional service.

There are four main awards, three general awards for individuals, community groups and businesses, and a youth award for anyone aged 18 and under.

Nominations will be considered by an independent panel and all information will be treated confidentially. The awards will be presented during the Inauguration of the Mayor’s Ceremony on 17 May 2021 at Cheltenham Town Hall.

Cllr Roger Whyborn, mayor of Cheltenham, says: “These new awards are an important way in which we can recognise our local heroes who have selflessly volunteered their time, energy and service over this difficult period to make a real difference to their communities.

“I am looking forward to hearing more about our inspiring residents who have shown such compassion and bravery in the last year.”

For more information or to make a nomination, visit the awards page or contact Jennie Ingram, personal assistant to the mayor, Mayor’s Parlour, PO Box 12, Municipal Offices, Promenade, Cheltenham, GL50 9SA, or call 01242 264108.

The closing date for nominations is Monday 12 April 2021.
