Concessionary travel - outline
The current concessionary bus travel scheme allows permanent residents of Cheltenham who are 60 or over, or eligible disabled, free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England.
The government has announced that from 6 April 2010 it is changing the criteria by which people qualify for a bus pass on the grounds of age. From this date the age of eligibility for concessionary travel for both sexes will be the pension age for women.
Gloucestershire County Council also offers community transport for those who are socially isolated.
