Come and volunteer with our Ranger team in some of your local parks and green spaces.
What can you do as a green space volunteer?
- Native wild meadow sowing
- Planting edible hedges (for humans and wildlife)
- Planting orchards
- Planting bulbs
- Clearing vegetation
- Create dead hedges
- Painting park railings
- Planting new planting schemes

Our volunteer groups
Below are some of the groups which are led by the Green Space Development Team. You are welcome to come along and say hello before signing up, however please be aware that you won’t be able to volunteer without first registering as a volunteer.
- Friends of King George V (KGV) playing field: Meets on the fourth Monday of the month from 9.30am to 12pm
- Griffiths Avenue Nature Reserve working party: Meets on the third Tuesday of the month from 9.30am to 1pm
- Friends of Winston Churchill Memorial Garden (WCMG): Meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 9.30am to 12.30pm
- QEII playing field - meets on an adhoc basis. Please get in touch to know when a volunteer session is next running
- Cox’s Meadow - meets on an adhoc basis. Please get in touch to know when a volunteer session is next running
- Friends of Sandford Park meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 9.30am to 12.30pm
- Cow spotters - applications currently closed
