In Cheltenham we recognise and respect the diversity in both sexual orientation and gender identity within our town.
There are a variety of support groups and activities taking place in Cheltenham and the surrounding areas for the LGBT community which you can find out about here.

LGBT reading group Gloucestershire
The group meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm at The Old Restoration in Cheltenham. Books chosen have an LGBT theme or author.
GAY-GLOS is a registered charity which for over 25 years has provided a variety of services for LGBT people, their families and friends. Whilst much has changed over that time in terms of the law and acceptance for LGBT people, some still find it hard to discuss issues with anyone they know. GAY-GLOS provides a listening ear and support via the telephone, email and face to face meeting.
GAY-GLOS Youth is social group for young people, from anywhere in the county, aged 14-18 who are LGBorT or questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. It has been running since the summer of 2012 and has a membership of over 30 people. The group meets on alternate Saturdays throughout the year in a central location in Gloucester as well as arranging other activities, visits to prides and residential events.
GAY-GLOS can provide support to cover transport costs to attend to ensure that no-one who wishes to join is excluded through lack of money. It is not an open group for people to just ‘drop-in’ to; everyone who joins is met in advance to ensure that the group is a safe place for its members. Those who join do not have to be 'out' to their family.
GAY-GLOS and education
Additionally GAY-GLOS delivers sessions for pupils in schools challenging attitudes to LGBT people and delivers training for organisations. GAY-GLOS has also been involved for many years in partnership work with both statutory and voluntary organisations to give LGBT people a voice. It is currently involved in such issues as: community safety; domestic abuse and sexual violence; hate crime and incidents; sexual health; and suicide prevention.
You'll find contact details for GAY-GLOS and GAY-GLOS Youth on their website.
Gloucestershire Gay and Lesbian Community Group (GGLC)
This group provides both social activities and support. It is open to LGBT people and their friends. The group meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7.30pm in the centre of Gloucester. The meeting is held in a location where people can feel safe in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Other activities are held across the county outside the monthly meeting.
