Food safety advice

We provide two tiers of advice to support businesses and food business operators. This can be helping you comply with the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) requirements or providing a unique perspective and practical level of knowledge.


Phone appointment

An initial free 15 minute phone appointment (you can request longer for a fee) where you can discuss any food related matter with a qualified and experienced food safety officer. This can include allergens, changes to your food processes or structural requirements.  We recommend you write your questions down so you can make the most of the time.

Fee

Free for the first 15 minutes. Further calls cost £70 per hour (or part of an hour).


Site visit

An initial one hour site visit from a qualified and experienced food safety officer where you can discuss any food related matters. This can include allergens, changes to your food processes or structural requirements. It will include a simple to understand report from the visit and a Food Standards Agency designed 'Safer food, better business' food safety management pack. The site visit can be beneficial if you are a new business starting up and want to get it right the first time.

Fee

£70 per hour

*Action will only be taken in extreme circumstance where public risk is imminent and informal arrangements are unsuccessful
