Request a re-visit
Your business will automatically be given a new food hygiene rating each time your premises are inspected. The frequency of these planned inspections depends on the risk to people's health; the greater the risk, the more often you will be inspected.
If you make the improvements to hygiene standards that our food safety officer raised at your last planned inspection, you can request a re-visit before the next planned inspection. Please note, the council charges for requested re-visits on a cost-recovery basis.
What to do before requesting a re-visit
Look carefully at the comments that the officer made about the hygiene standards at your last inspection in the report you were given. Make sure that you have taken appropriate action to address any issues raised.
Note that during a re-visit, standards will be reviewed in all areas of your business, not just those that were previously commented on. It is important to maintain hygiene standards generally, as your rating could go down and not up. This rating would then not be reviewed before your next planned inspection or after receipt of another valid re-visit request.
How to request a re-visit
You will need to explain what actions you have taken on the issues raised at your last inspection. You should include supporting evidence, for example receipts or photographs, to show that work has been completed. This is important as we could refuse your request if you do not provide sufficient information and evidence.

If the request is approved, you will be asked to pay the fee before the inspection can occur.
The fee
The current fee for a requested re-visit is £185.
How to make payment
Payment should not be made until after your request has been approved. You will be informed by a food safety officer when your application has been approved and you can then pay using one of the options below:
