Opening hours update
With the clocks now set to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), the household recycling centre is now operating under the winter opening hours listed below. Whilst visiting the household recycling centre please can we ask all resisdents to keep to the speed limit and be aware of site users crossing the pedestrian crossing.
Recycling centre information
The recycling centre in Swindon Road has facilities for disposing of your household waste.
Central Depot, Swindon Road, Cheltenham, GL51 9JZ.

Vans, trailers and large loads
Vans/pickup trucks, whether or not privately owned, are not permitted. Small household trailers are accepted but must not be detached from the vehicle, so the items will need to be liftable. Staff on site are happy to assist with unloading large domestic appliances, however please note 1 tonne builders bags are not accepted on this site.
If you have a large load, you may find it easier to use the county council recycling centre at Wingmoor Farm, Bishop's Cleeve. The site is better equipped and has more capacity to receive large loads of household waste. The site also accepts types of waste not permitted at Swindon Road such as DIY rubble.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 7.30am to 7.30pm (summer time*) and 7.30am to 6.30pm (winter time*)
- Saturdays - 7.30am to 4.00pm
- Sundays - 9.00am to 12.00pm**
- Bank holidays - Usually 9.00am to 1.00pm, but please check our bank holiday collections page as times may vary
- Times will vary over Christmas/New Year, so please check the Christmas opening hours page.
*Summer time is March to October, when clocks are set to British Summer Time (BST); winter time is October to March, when clocks are set to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
**Please note the main gate will be closed at 12noon on a Sunday however during busy periods, vehicles in the queue will still be able to gain access to the site until 1pm.

Yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, ice cream tubs, ready-meal trays and plastic fruit punnets.
Please rinse out bottles and containers and squash.

Plastic garden furniture, plastic storage crates and boxes, plastics buckets and pipes, plastic sheeting that you see on sheds and greenhouses, and plastic buckets

- The household recycling centre is for Cheltenham residents only and proof of residency will be required on entry to the site
- During busy periods the main gate may be shut slightly earlier than listed below to allow for the remaining vehicles on site to use the facilities
- Whilst using the site please use the walkways provided around the perimeter of the parking bays
- If you require assistance due to disabilitiy or mobility issues please notify a member of staff upon arrival who will be happy to assist. Alternativley please bring a family member or friend to assist if possible.
Please make full use of your kerbside waste collection service, as we continue our efforts to keep these running for you.
