Biodiversity audit

In March 2006, the Borough Council commissioned a Biodiversity Audit of 132 sites in Cheltenham which included allotments; churchyards; green corridors and open spaces; local nature reserves; natural green spaces; parks and gardens; playing fields and potential development sites.
The audit contains the following:
- Desk top study to determine the nature conservation designations and protected species recorded within the borough boundary;
- a survey to classify and map habitats that are likely to be ecologically important;
- a record of the presence, or potential presence of protected species and those appearing on national and county wide biodiversity action plans (BAP's); and
- management recommendations.
