The borough of Cheltenham borders the Cotswold area of outstanding natural beauty.

The Cotswolds is one of 40 in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in England and Wales and at 790 (2,038 sq kms) square miles, it is the second largest protected landscape in Britain.

AONB's are designated landscapes and share the same landscape quality and status as National Parks.
