Why we collect information about you?

Annually we are required to ask all employees to make a written declaration of their financial and other interests as per Section 117 of the Local Government Act 1972 and in accordance with the council’s employee code of conduct and governance arrangements.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about:

  • Your name,
  • any relationships with Councillors
  • Financial interests
  • Personal interests
  • Any other employment interests
  • Criminal Convictions and Cautions

Who do we share this information with?

  • To authorised officers.
  • The Council may choose to publish and will comply with any requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act or Environmental Information Regulations and deal with requests from other bodies such as the police and regulatory agencies, in those circumstances. The Council will comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 Principle 1, which is to be superseded by the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 on 25th May 2018, by establishing whether it is lawful and fair to disclose any personal data supplied in this form.

In line with financial regulations this information will be kept for 7 years

Who do we collect information from?

  • Employees only

What are the consequences if we do not collect the data?

The council would be in breach of the legislation which could result in prosecution or adverse audit reports.
