Gifts and hospitality

Why we collect information about you?

All employees that are offered gifts or hospitality must seek prior approval from their line manager before it can be accepted, this authorisation or refusal must be recorded.  This is to support compliance with Section 117 of the Local Government Act 1972 and The Bribery Act 2010. This is also in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 and Data Protection Act 2018 and the Employee Code of Conduct and the anti-fraud and anti-corruption policy,

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about:

  • Your name,
  • Your signature

Who do we share this information with?

  • To authorised officers.
  • The Council may choose to publish and will comply with any requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 or Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and deal with requests from other bodies such as the police and regulatory agencies, in those circumstances.

Is there any information transferred to or stored on servers based outside the EEA?

  • No

How long do we keep your information?

In line with financial regulations this information will be kept for 7 years

Who do we collect information from?

  • Employees only

What are the consequences if we do not collect the data?

The Council would be in breach of the legislation which could result in prosecution or adverse audit reports.

Are any decisions about you made by automatic means?

No.
