Why we collect information about you

We collect information to monitor the wholesomeness and sufficiency of private water supply.

This is a statutory obligation undertaken by the council in accordance with the Water Industry Act 1991 and the Private Water Supplies Regs 2010.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about:

  • You (name, address, contact details)
  • Your household (number of individuals with name and ages)

Who do we share the information with?

  • Gloucestershire County Council (Public Health Team).
  • Public Health England
  • NHS laboratories
  • Public Analyst
  • Other local authorities
  • Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI)

Is any information transferred to or stored on servers based outside the European Economic Area?

No

How long do we keep your information?

We keep information about you for 20 years + current.

What are the consequences if we do not collect the data?

The council will be unable to fulfil its statutory obligations to monitor the wholesomeness and sufficiency of private water supplies within its area.
